Our History

In 1978, our mom, Dale, made a bold and beautiful decision that changed the course of our family forever. She moved us from Broward to Marion County, Florida, and purchased a 10.5‑acre plot of land that would become the heart of our family story. As a single mother raising two young girls, she balanced life as a hardworking RN with the demands of being a brand‑new landowner — pouring her strength, grit, and love into building a place where we could grow, learn, and thrive.

Over the years, Flowerwood Farm became a lively home to dairy goats, hogs, horses, cows, rabbits, and chickens — just a handful of the many animals that shaped our childhood. Through 4‑H and FFA, we learned responsibility, leadership, and the kind of life skills that only come from growing up in the country. The farm wasn’t just land; it was a classroom, a playground, and a sanctuary.

As my sister and I grew older, went off to college, got married, and started families of our own, Mom found a new passion that kept the farm full of life: breeding miniature dachshunds. It was her way of staying connected to the joy of raising animals, even as the farm quieted and her girls ventured out into the world. Those little dachshunds brought her so much happiness — a new chapter of caretaking that fit perfectly into her later years.

In 2024, when Mom passed away, the farm became ours. With her memory guiding us, we knew we wanted to rebuild, restore, and breathe new life into the land she worked so hard to give us. Bringing animals back to Flowerwood Farm feels like honoring her legacy — a way to keep her spirit present in every pasture, every fence line, and every new adventure.

Today, we’re committed to reviving the farm with purpose, joy, and the same determination Mom showed in 1978. It feels right to imagine livestock roaming again, the land alive with the sounds and rhythms we grew up with. Flowerwood Farm is more than a place — it’s our history, our inheritance, and our future.

We are in the process of building back the farm's infrastructure. We are slowly adding farm animals. At this time we do not have any animals or products for sale.

Please check back as we do have plans to add these options in the future.

Thank you, have a blessed day!
